What is the easiest method to teach children Salah? How can I make my children learn more about Islam?

Assalaam alaikum wa rahmatullah

You should teach them the various surahs and duas of Salah and then ask them to pray the Fardh Salah loudly. In this way, you can listen to them and correct them when they are wrong. Encourage your sons to attend the Masjid and pray salah in Jama'ah.

Our children are an amanah(trust)given to us by Allah Ta'ala. It is our duty to teach them the basics of our religion. Rasulullah Sallahu alaihi wa sallam has said "everyone of you is a shephard and everyone of you will be questioned about his flock." Therefore it is imperative that you teach your children about Islam. You will need to instill in them a deep love for Allah and Muhammed Sallalahu alaihi wasallam and equip them with that amount of knowledge which will enable them to differentiate between right and wrong beliefs and actions. It is better for them to attend a madrassah. If they cannot, you should hire a teacher to teach them or teach them yourself. At the very least, they should learn:

a. Reading the Quran and memorizing the small surahs.

b. The articles of faith i.e. beliefs regarding Tauheed (onesness of Allah,His qualities and attributes) angels, prophets, Books of Allah, the last day, life after death etc.

c. The pillars of Islam i.e Shahadah, salah, zakah haj and fasting

d. The history of Rasul Sallahualai wasallam and the other Propets AS.

e. duas of salah and other short duas.

f. ettiquete - sunnah of Rasul Sallahu alaihi wasallam.

The best way to encourage our children to pray Salah and to lead their lives according to the Sunnah is by example. This will create an environment wherein it will become easy to follow Islam. Additionally, we should praise them with beautiful words and talk to them about the love Allah has for His creation and the various bounties in Jannah. Together with this effort, we should constantly ask Allah to guide us and our children.
